K.Ramabrahmam & Sons Pvt. Ltd is a pioneer shipping company at Visakhapatnam Port undertaking Steamer Agency, Stevedoring, Clearing & Forwarding, Cargo Handling and Warehousing. The Company, which was established 100 years ago, is the oldest company in the East Coast of India, historically intertwined with the growth and development of Visakhapatnam Port. The company presently has a branch office at Kakinada. With all the experience it commands in maritime operations the company, which is, now passing through third generation of family leadership is professionally managed and is providing excellent quality logistic services.
Started in the year 1925 by the founder Late Shri K.Ramabrahmam who was an engineering graduate from Madras University, the company served as agents initially on behalf of the port for handling cargoes on shore and at the ore dumps. Later, when the port was departmentalized, the company obtained license for Stevedoring, Steamer Agency and C&F Agents and Stevedores for the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Hindustan Steel Limited and Steel Authority of India Limited.
During the above period the company served in all aspects of cargo handling to many government organizations in the developmental plan period, prominent among them are Bhilai Steel Plant, Caltex Oil refinery, Coromandel Fertilizers, Hindustan Polymers Limited, Navabharat Ferro Alloys Limited, Andhra Petrochemicals Limited etc,. the entire clearance of project machinery of these projects through port and customs was executed by this company. This company handled the first vessel MV. Jaladurga berthed in the port of Visakhapatnam in 1933.

Since inception, in the year 1925, the company had passed through two generations of responsible leadership of Kancharlas namely Late Shri K.S.Dutt, Late Shri K.Subba Rao, Late Shri K.Ramachandra Rao, Late Shri K.Sriram Murthy and Late Shri K.Ramakrishna Rao. Late Shri K.S.Dutt was the Chairman of Andhra Bank, Trustee of Visakhapatnam Port Trust, President of the Stevedores Association and President of the Administrative body of the Dock Labour Board. All other members of the family of Kancharlas held important public positions in Port Trust and DLB all through their life. Shri K.Sriram Murthy served as MLA of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
